Nearly half of the folks who report the pain state its lead to depression and 16% say it's so bad they need to die. These people don't need to suffer through; many are finding relief through myofascial release treatment.

Myofascial is a term derived from Latin. Myo means fascia and muscle mean the band. On your body, there are bands of connective tissue that surround all muscles, and organs and research indicate that damage to the tissue may cause chronic pain.

 It's quite tricky to spot the damage because it doesn't appear on an x-ray or an MRI but a trained therapist may locate your trigger points and operate the area to alleviate the pain.

This effective therapy is much like the message with a few subtle differences. The therapist who performs the method applies gentle continuing pressure to the trigger factors.

Through their expertise, massage and physiotherapists will find connective tissue which has hardened and operates the area to loosen it up.

Myofascial release therapy may also be performed by yourself. Self-myofascial release requires using a foam roller. Rollers are usually about 15cm wide and 90cm long.

The roller is placed under different areas of the body and then rolled back and forth to work certain areas. The use of this foam roller is recommended for athletes to battle soreness and stiffness which could follow exercise.
